Why Choose to Study IMYP1?

The IMYP provides the foundation for success for GCSE and A Level and indeed life beyond school. The curriculum is based on the concepts of Project Based and Experiential Learning. The curriculum is assessed using clear academic Learning Objectives and Success Criteria. Each subject area is theme or topic based and is set out in a preferred teaching sequence, each week of study building on the previous one.

The 7 CORE AIMS of the IMYP curriculum: To develop:

  1. Language, Literacy and Communication (including Modern Foreign Languages)
  2. Numeracy
  3. Science and Scientific Method
  4. Humanity and Society
  5. Environmental Awareness
  6. Creativity and the Arts
  7. Character Education and Critical Thinking

The first year of the International Middle Years Programme builds on Primary School learning and develops core skills and competencies for the second year of the IMYP.
